- DCS reported a data violation caused by unusual behavior of a third -party support provider
- Only names and emails were accessed; Financial data were not stored or compromised
- Less than ten clients were affected; The authorities and partners have been notified
Digital Charging Solutions (DCS), a German company that builds public load solutions for car manufacturers, fleet managers and EV drivers, warned its clients that it suffered a rather strange violation of data that did not include a malicious third or privileged information.
In a data violation notification letter sent to several automobile manufacturers, including BMW and Kia, the company said it had observed “irregularities” in the way in which one of its third -party service providers managed its data records.
He did not appoint the partner in question, but said that the service provider “supports us in the customer service area and, therefore, is authorized in principle to see customer data for these purposes,” says the notification, translated by machine.
Individual customer data
The company’s research showed that the service provider unnecessarily “individual client data,” said DCS, added that he is now working with the company’s management to clarify what happened.
Additional security measures were added, he added, and emphasized that the relevant data protection authorities and the relevant forces were alerted.
“According to the previous findings, the number of affected customers is in the range of a single digit,” says the letter.
“They have already been informed separately.” The data that this shameless third included included names and email addresses. The individual, complete payment data was not accessed, since DCS does not store or process this type of information.
Digital Charging Solutions has more than one million customers in Europe, which offers access to almost a million EV public load points.
It has about 350 employees and generates an estimated annual income of $ 142.7 million, with its partners, including some of the largest automobile manufacturers and fleet operators, which provide white label load services and fleet management tools.
