Oklahoma State has fired Mike Gundy in the middle of his 21st season with the team.
Oklahoma’s fans let their disgust be heard when the team lost to Tulsa at home for the first time in 74 years. Tulsa beat the state of Oklahoma 19-12 on Friday at the Boone Pickens stadium, which led Cowboys fans to ask for Gundy’s dismissal.
Tulsa took an advantage of 16-3 in the part-time, and fans sang “Fire Gundy” before the first half ended. The songs continued with four remaining minutes in the last quarter, with Tulsa leading 19-12, and the vociferous multitude in the ESPN transmission was heard.

Oklahoma State defeated Ut Martin 27-7 in his first game, but was demolished by the number 6 of Oregon last week, 69-3. The cowboys have 1-2 to start the season after going 3-9 last year, which followed 18 consecutive seasons, all under Gundy, in which they ended in .500 or better. Only two seasons ago that the cowboys were in the Big 12 championship.
More than 21 years and 260 games in the state of Oklahoma, Gundy has a record of 170-90.

The state of Oklahoma was the first coach of chief coach of Gundy after being the offensive coordinator from 2001 to 2004. He also had periods in Maryland and Baylor in the late 1990s.
