QUETTA:
On Tuesday, the railway in the Dasht area was beaten by a powerful explosion, aimed at Jaffar Express that travels from Peshawar to Quetta.
The authorities said the device, an improvised explosive planted near the road, shot when the passenger train passed. The explosion caused four Bogies to derail and left almost a dozen injured passengers, including women and children.
Rescue workers and security forces quickly arrived at the site and launched emergency efforts to evacuate the victims. The injured were transferred to hospitals in Quetta, where an emergency was declared to guarantee timely treatment.
Health officials reported that, although several passengers suffered minor injuries, some remain in serious condition and receive critical care.
The images shared online showed rescue teams that worked together with the agencies of application of the law to clear the remains and help passengers.
The railway authorities confirmed that the explosion severely damaged the road and led to a suspension of trains services in the area. An investigation has been launched, although no group has still attributed the responsibility of the attack.
A similar incident occurred in August 2025 when six bogies were deranged near the same place.
That incident had arrived only three days after an Express Jaffa, bound for Quetta, escaped by little of a disaster in Sibi, where a pump planted near the track exploded just after the passenger train passed.
In another incident close to July 24, a powerful explosion crossed the Quetta-Sibi rail section, damaging a Bogie of the Bolan mail.
A derailment of July 28 of the Jaffar Express train in Sukkur was initially attributed to an explosion, even by the media administered by the Government, but the railroad ministry then said that a technical failure was the cause.
In June, a powerful explosion of a remotely installed controlled explosive device in railroad roads caused four Bogies of the Express Jaffer to derail in Jacobabad. No one was injured in the incident.
In April, the 3up train that was heading from Karachi to Quetta was arrested at the Jacobabad train station due to security reasons.
