- WhatsApp is finally launching a message translation tool
- It is throwing Android and iPhone
- There is an additional feature that is exclusive to Android users
WhatsApp is finally implementing its highly requested message translation function from Android and iPhone, a new tool that allows you to translate incoming messages into your favorite language.
Meta announced the new WhatsApp tool through a blog post, which occurs months after Apple’s live translation function in iOS 26.
To enable a translation into a WhatsApp message, all you have to do is press an incoming message in the long term and select the new option ‘translate’ in the context menu, and then select the language you want the message of O. You can also download your languages most used for future translations.
One of the advantages of this new tool is that it is not limited to conversations 1: 1, and can be used in group chats and even channel updates. Meta has also revealed that translations occur in the device, unlike the cloud, protecting their privacy. Regarding the availability of languages, WhatsApp is beginning.
For iPhone users, translations will be available in more than 19 languages to begin. In the case of Android, only six languages (English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic) will be available with more to come, however, Android users will get access to an additional benefit that iPhone users will not.
Thread translations are Android exclusive
Despite the limited language options for Android users, WhatsApp is compensating with thread translations, which allows you to translate a full message thread instead of translating them one by one, what iPhone users will still have to do.
When the automatic translation for chat threads enables, all future incoming messages will be translated in that conversation, which will save you a lot of time with future translations.
The arrival of message translations marks a significant change in the WhatsApp ecosystem, although other messaging platforms introduced similar tools for a while. WhatsApp users have been asking for a translation function for some years, and so far, they have had to find third -party solutions such as Translate and Todalingua Swift to solve their translation problems.
With message translations, WhatsApp has shared that “they expect (s) this feature helps break the barriers of the language and allows users to connect more deeply with their loved ones and communities around the world.” It is a small release for Android users at this time, but it is likely to grow as more users get used to.
