It was a celebration night for Seattle sailors.
The star receiver, Cal Raleigh, reached their home runs 59 and 60 of the year when the sailors beat the 9-2 red rockies to ensure the title of the American League West on Wednesday night at T-Mobile Park for the first time in 24 years.
Raleight became the seventh player in the history of MLB to hit at least 60 homers in a season.

The first home run of the switch receiver game arrived at the first entrance, hitting from the left side of the plate. Raleigh hit the 93 mph 93 mph rapid ball of the Tanner Gordon launcher 438 feet on the third deck for his 59th homer of the season to put the sailors 1-0.
“It was like a movie,” said his teammate Julio RodrÃguez about Luna’s launch of Raleigh’s first post. “I am so grateful that I am in our team, that I am able to do what it does. It is very special and I cannot say enough.”
Raleight’s second explosion, and 60 of the season, arrived in the eighth entrance with the 8-1 team. The crowd was standing by singing MVP when Raleigh tied a fast 98 mph ball in the Rockies Angel Chivilli 389 feet in the seats of the right field to put the 9-1.
Raleigh called Gasting 60 homers in a “crazy” season.
“It’s crazy. Sixty, I don’t know what to say,” said Raleight, who leads the biggest in Homers, after the game. “I didn’t know if I was going to reach 60 in my life. Just tonight, what way to do it.”

The only other players to reach 60 homers in a season are Babe Ruth (1927), Roger Maris (1961), Mark McGwire (1998 and 1999), Sammy Sosa (1998, 1999, 2001), Barry Bonds (2001) and Aaron Judge (2022).
It was the eleventh multihomer game for Raleight this year, timing with Judge (2022), Hank Greenberg (1938) and Sosa (1998) for the MLB record.
With four remaining games in the regular season, Raleigh has the opportunity to approve the judge for the American League record. The judge reached 62 home runs in 2022 to break the brand to the previous 61 established by Maris in 1961.
Raleigh’s historical season has him in competition with Judge for the MVP award, but his manager, Dan Wilson, said that “there is no doubt” who should win it.

“When you look at how he has done it and the position in which he plays, he was telling someone today that when you leave the field, you are mentally and physically exhausted,” said the manager of the sailors, Dan Wilson, a former receiver of the major leagues:
“And for him to do what he has done offensively and do what he does behind the plate, honestly I don’t think we have seen this before. He has been incredible. I think he deserves the MVP, no doubt.”
After ensuring the West for the first time since 2001, the sailors (89-69) will seek to sweep the rockies (43-115) in the final game of their three-game series on Thursday at 9:40 pm et.
