The Miami Dolphins had a disappointing end for the 2024 season. After not reaching the playoffs, Dolphins’ problems have continued to the early part of the 2025 campaign.
Miami’s 0-3 start this season has placed the performance of the Tua Tagovaila field marshal under the microscope. The former personality of the NFL Cam Newton media is among those who have expressed criticism about Tagovaila.
During one of the episodes last week of “First Take” of ESPN, Newton cited the extension of the Tagovailoa Togovailo contract of $ 212.1 million during his criticism of the performance of Pro Bowl Signal-Haller.

“Tagovaila is doing more than Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield, Matthew Stafford, Jayden Daniels. Am I looking at her pocket? No, I’m putting things in perspective here,” said Newton, the NFL 2015 MVP last week.
“In this case, it should be more money, more expectations. When I see tua tagovaila about this year, I just heard it more than I have ever had. That doesn’t mean you can’t talk. I like you calm.
“What they pay you, what they ask you to do, what do you have the capacity: from one field marshal to another, I look at the situation like Come on, Dawg. Especially when you have a Ferrari and a Lamborghini and other comforts that other Quarterbacks would like to have.”
Newton’s comments were later taken to Tagovaila’s attention, who suggested that he maintains with much more challenging circumstances than experts can give credit.

“Well, anyone can play as a field marshal in this league.” Cam is doing your thing safely, but I think it is easier to keep a click and talk about that in that way or talk about what someone else is doing badly when you are not going out and have to do the same as them. “

“I think it’s easy to do that. I think anyone can do that. I don’t think anyone can play as a field marshal.”
Tagovaila also acknowledged that its performance level has been well below the standard that is maintained.
Through three games this season, Tagovaila has launched five touchdowns against four interceptions. Its field marshal rating is located between the lower part of the NFL.
While the Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel knows that there is always a margin of improvement, he also applauded Tagovailo for his mental strength during the struggles in the team’s field.

“The game of a franchise field marshal is never yet … there are opportunities that must take advantage of,” McDaniel said. “There are also many opportunities to change the ball you have not taken. 99 percent of the time has really responded to the bell … It is not an easy task to be in place, but I am very happy with where your mind is and where your approach focuses because if I was a weaker mind, it is difficult for any quarterback during any streak or whatever.
“He has focused on being 1-0 against New York’s jets and that is why I know he is capable and I am excited to see his next opportunity in which we work all week because of that, to be focused on the right things.”
Tagovaila has had some notable achievements since he was recruited tenth in 2020. He was the Passenger leader of the NFL in 2023.
The Dolphins receive Jets without New York victories on Sunday.
