Islamabad:
The Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) has addressed the main espionage agency in the country to inform it in a session in the Chamber about the whereabouts of a citizen, Omar Abdullah, who disappeared from Islamabad almost ten years ago.
The Superior Court of the Capital, although it pointed out that the deputy director or a commander of the intelligence sector between services (ISI) could give the information session, instructed the authorities to inform it before October 6 about which officer will appear.
An IHC bank comprised of the senior judge of Puisne Mohsin Akhtar Kayani issued the order on Friday while listening to a petition presented by Zainab Zaeem, Omar Abdullah’s wife.
The judge said that ISI’s officers should simply tell the Court if the person has been killed, he went abroad or hides. He added that it would be acceptable if five ISI officers appeared, since the account of a single officer may not be enough.
“In fact, this is the work of Parliament to address the issue of missing persons, but Parliament has closed their eyes. At some point, these issues will move towards criminal procedures,” he said.
During the hearing, the Court was informed that an amount of assistance from RS5 million had been transferred to the affected family account. The Ministry of Defense and the Additional Attorney presented the online transfer receipt in the Court.
Judge Kayani also noted that financial compensation cannot relieve family pain.
“The State does not lack money, but the problem will not be resolved in this way. A person has been missing for 10 years, and after 7 years a decision has been made.
“It should be revealed where the missing person is. Is it in a prison in Afghanistan? It should be clarified if he is alive or dead,” he said.
