Jennifer Lawrence talked about the death of children in Gaza during a press conference on Friday at the San Sebastián Film Festival, where she was promoting her latest film, Die, My Love.
“I am terrified and mortifying. What is happening is no less than a genocide, and it is unacceptable. I am terrified by my children, by all our children,” said Oscar’s winning actress in response to a question of journalists.
Lawrence, 35, also criticized the tone of American politics, expressing concern about its impact on young people.
“In addition to everything else, what makes me so sad is that this lack of respect and the discourse in American politics at this time will be normal for them. I mean, the children who vote at this time at 18, will be totally normal for them that politics has no integrity. Politicians lie; there is no empathy,” he said.
The actress added that ignoring global conflicts risked the consequences closest to home.
“Everyone should remember that when you ignore what is happening on one side of the world, it will not spend much time until you are on your side,” he warned.
