Cabinet postpones ratification of amendments

ISLAMABAD:

The federal cabinet on Wednesday postponed the ratification of the amendments to the Citizenship Law.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also ratified the decisions taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases held on December 17, 2024.

During the meeting, the chief minister directed that details of public sector imports from Gwadar port, for the last three months, be presented in the next cabinet meeting.

The cabinet gave its in-principle approval to the legislation on amendments to Section 3 (7) of the Pakistan Telecommunication (Reorganization) Act, on the recommendation of the cabinet division/secretariat.

It also recommended approval of the regulations for appointment of Information Group officials as press officers in Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad, proposed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

These regulations would ensure a more transparent and merit-based process for the appointment of Information Group officers in Pakistan’s foreign missions.

The Cabinet ratified the decisions taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on State Enterprises held on December 24.
