This is not the first time this year that a citizen has lost his life in an excavation well. In May, supposed negligence on the part of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) claimed the life of a teenager in Dhoke Kala Khan Service Road, where a 17 -foot deep well had been discovered by a water tank for more than six months.
The victim, identified as a 17 -year -old Masih, slid and fell into the well as she played near a Cricket land adjacent to the site.

The trench, excavated for a water tank to serve the union councils 21, 22, 23 and 24, remains incomplete due to the lack of reported funds. According to the locals, the well measures approximately 17-19 feet deep, 30 feet long and four feet wide. He accumulated with dirty rainwater and had become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
On the day of the incident, Masih was filming during a Cricket game when he accidentally slipped to the well. Due to its depth, it did not survive. The locals recovered the body with difficulty and sent it to post mortem to the teaching hospital of the district headquarters. The deceased was delivered to the family after legal medical formalities for the last rites.
The residents reported frequent minor incidents on the site and said they had raised concerns before. The fatal accident caused generalized indignation, with the premises organizing protests against WASA and demanded immediate action.
