Karachi:
The anti -corruption establishment has initiated an investigation into alleged irregularities in the printing of free textbooks by the Sindh textbook board. The Board is accused of awarding contracts worth RS5 billion to favorite editors without following the appropriate standards.
The investigation has intensified against President Parvez Baloch and former secretary Taimoor Khaskheli. Ace’s Karachi headquarters has summoned officials to appear on October 2 with all relevant records.
Research refers to academic year 2024-2025, during which, according to reports, printing contracts were granted to selected editors, avoiding fair tender processes.
The anti -corruption team has demanded an integral range of documents, including national tax numbers (NTN) of companies, which have received contracts, their details, their previous works, offers reports, supply orders, delivery chalins and advance payment records, made to them.
In addition, the correspondence related to the acquisition committee has also been sought.
It is worth mentioning that the SNDH textbook board prints and distributes approximately 5.5 million sets of textbooks, at no cost, to government schools throughout the province, which makes the integrity of this process vital for the education sector.
The ACE action highlights the growing concerns about transparency and the request for responsibility in public sector contracts, especially in areas that directly affect education.
