
Quetta/Rawalpindi: A powerful explosion near Zarghoon Road in Quetta left at least five people dead and more than 20 wounds, authorities said Tuesday.
According to reports, the explosion was followed by heavy shots, sending panic through the area.
The initial police reports suggested that three people were killed with more than a dozen injured. However, the toll was reviewed five dead and more than 20 injured after the medical superintendent of the Civil Hospital, Dr. Abdul Hadi, confirmed the number of victims.
The official said all the victims were civilians. Wounds are given medical help, he added.
In response to the emergency, a spokesman for the Department of Health confirmed that emergency protocols were imposed at the Civil Hospital, the Bolan Medicine Faculty (BMC) and the Trauma Center. All consultants, doctors, pharmacists, nursing staff and paramedic staff have been summoned to hospitals, added the spokesman.
Meanwhile, security sources stated that the attack was a suicide bombing carried out using a vehicle loaded with explosives by terrorists sponsored by the Indians, Fitna al-Hindustan.
They said that a terrorist took the vehicle to the headquarters of the FC, while the other terrorists dressed when the FC staff tried to assault within the building’s facilities.
However, the six terrorists, including suicide terrorist, were killed as a result of rapid action by security forces, sources said, while at least two FC characters were injured. A liquidation operation was underway, they added.
Baluchistan’s Prime Minister Sarfraz Bugti firmly condemned the incident, saying that such acts of cowardly terrorism cannot cushion the spirit of the Pakistani nation.
The CM also expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs, praying for the elevation of their ranks, and wanted a rapid recovery for the injured in the attack.
