Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the government effectively handled the challenges in 2024 and is determined to fulfill its commitments to the nation next year.

At a press conference in the federal capital, Dar outlined the government’s achievements and expressed optimism about Pakistan’s future, Express News reported.

Reflecting on the past year, Dar emphasized that 2024 was a crucial year for Pakistan, particularly with the general elections, in which the public gave its mandate to the Pakistan Muslim League (N).

He stated that the government has worked diligently to address challenges such as inflation and interest rates.

“We have managed to reduce inflation, which has now fallen below 5 percent, a significant improvement over the previous year,” he added.

Dar also noted that when the government took office, interest rates were 22 percent, but have now been reduced to 13 percent, a move he believes has had a positive impact on the economy.

“We are continually working to fulfill the promises made to the nation, and the economy is constantly improving,” he said, underscoring the government’s focus on economic stability.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted the recent launch of ‘Udaan Pakistan Programme’ by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at boosting national economic growth.

In his speech, Dar also spoke about the recent changes in the country’s diplomatic appointments.

He revealed that Shafqat Khan had been appointed as the new spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs and Zehra Baloch was appointed as Pakistan’s ambassador to France, after consultations with the Prime Minister.

Looking ahead to 2025, Dar expressed hope that the year will bring more progress and stability for Pakistan, reinforcing the government’s commitment to deliver on its promises and improve the nation’s economic conditions.
