Three police officers were killed and another nine injured during an attack by armed men belong to the Awami Action Committee in Dhir Kot, Azad Kashmir, Express News reported.

Armed men affiliated with the Awami Action Committee opened fire against police personnel, which resulted in the victims. The officers who were killed include agent Khurshid and Agent Jameel, both from Bagh, and Agent Tahir Rafi de Muzaffrabad.

The families of the deceased and injured officers demanded that the government take the attackers to justice and impose strict sanctions.

Meanwhile, AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq invited Awami’s action committee to celebrate negotiations after violent protests in the region.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Islamabad together with the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, the prime minister said that the committee had initially announced a peaceful protest, but the situation intensified.

“In several areas of Kashmir, the enraged people carried out violent demonstrations and opened fire against the police personnel, which resulted in three dead officers and another ten injured,” said Haq.

He pointed out that the protest participants came from multiple areas, adding: “If it had only been people from Kashmir, perhaps the protest would not have become violent in this way.”

Haq reiterated his call to dialogue, stating: “Once again, I invite the leaders of the Awami Action Committee to present and participate in conversations. The Government will recognize the legitimate demands of the protesters.”

He added that in September, the government had already accepted 90 percent of the committee’s demands, but the committee decided to announce more protests.

AJK strike on constitutional demands

On Monday, a closing blow and Wheel-Jam Jam through AJK, called by the Awami Jammu Cashmiro Action Committee on constitutional demands kills one, paralyzed life in the main districts before growing violence after clashes in Neelum Bridge.

Directed by the central leader of JKJAAC Shaukat Nawaz Mir, the strike stopped Muzaffrabad, Mirpur, Poonch, Neelum, Bhimber and Palandari. The markets remained closed, the roads and internet services were blocked, they were largely restricted from Muzaffrabad, except areas that border Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Fixed, cellular and private Internet networks were also largely suspended.

The tensions broke out when the activists of the Muslim Conference had a parallel “AMAN March” in support of the merchants who wish to keep the companies open, confronted the JKJAAC protesters in Neelum Bridge.

The supporters of the Muslim Conference, including the leader of the Raja Saqib Majeed party and his brother, supposedly opened fire against the protesters.

“The incident, captured in images of viral social networks, clearly shows people who shoot at the crowd,” said journalist Farhan Ahmed Khan. Four protesters were injured; One of them, Sudheer, later died in the hospital.

At night, almost 5,000 people gathered in Lal Chowk, where Shaukat Nawaz Mir pronounced a ardent 17 minutes speech.

He condemned the dismissal, accused the authorities of trying to organize “another May 9” through their “promotions”, and insisted that Jkjaac did not house hostility towards state institutions or the Pakistan army.

Mir announced that a protest would be held with the body of Sudheer in Chehlabandi in Neelum Road, demanding a FIR and Post Mortem, none of which had been completed.

He also asked for more demonstrations in Lal Chowk on Tuesday afternoon. “False filming are issued to suggest that everything is normal,” he claimed, promising to continue the protests until the demands are met.
