Salma Hayek is remembering Frida Kahlo in a moving note.

The actress turned to her Instagram account on September 29 to look back in the tragic accident that occurred 100 years ago, which changed Frida’s life forever.

“In September 1925, 100 years ago … At 18, the life of Frida Kahlo changed forever due to a tragic bus accident. His body stayed with unimaginable injuries and spent months confined in his bed,” Salma wrote.

He also published a photo of Frida’s real life along with his interpretation as a Mexican artist.

Salma went on to write: “In that loneliness, with a mirror on her and a brush in her hand, Frida began exploring her inner world. What began as a way of supporting pain became its greatest gift for us, the art that speaks of strength, identity and resistance.”

“His legacy reminds us that even in our most difficult moments, beauty and courage can arise #frida #fridakahlo,” he concluded.
