Week 4 of the NFL season saw a series of finals, two of which were the end of the season.

Malik Nabers and Tyreek Hill broke their ACL, Trey Benson hurt his knee and Lamar Jackson adjusted an hamstring, just to name a few.

Specifically, in the case of Nabers, that injury occurred in what has become a noticeable grass surface in the Metlife stadium, which has also claimed the seasons of other players to serious injuries, including multiple tears of ACL and Achilles.

The NFL players association has asked that all fields be grass, but many stadiums have taken to act.

However, the legendary NFL receiver, Larry Fitzgerald, who never played less than 13 games in one season and played in each game in 13 of his 17 campaigns, does not feel that the implementation of the grass in the 30 NFL stages is possible.

“I do not think it is feasible in most places. I mean, the Metlife stadium is probably used 100 days a year, and only 20 of them are for soccer games. You are organizing concerts by Bruce Springsteen, demonstrations of monstrous trucks.

Fitzgerald also pointed out that sometimes, the nature of football results in injuries regardless of the surface, the open receiver said for a long time.

“I was in the 49ers-Cardinals game, and I saw James Conner break his ankle on the grass. I saw Nick Bosa blow his ACL on the grass. When you have 300 pound people who are among themselves at full speed, these are strong and physical types. If they played in a bubble wrapping, the boys would hurt.”

Hill’s injury occurred on the grass, but it is easy to say that the nature of the Tackle resulted in his injury. Bosa also broke his ACL at the Metlife stadium.

It should be noted that Fitzgerald played his games at home at State Stadium with the Arizona cardinals, who has retractable grass. And yet, that is also where Benson suffered an injury that required surgery.

However, the grass has generally been more prone to soft tissue injuries, as the NFLPA has cited.

Half of the stadiums of the League use lawn, despite the executive director of the NFLPA, Lloyd Howell, saying that 92% of the league players prefer the grass.
