The terminal is equipped with modern infrastructure and digital systems, residential accommodation facilities for customs, FIA, plants protection

The Angoor Adda terminal at the Bajo Waziristan del Sur, which reopened this week for formal trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan after two and a half years, was completed by National Logistics Cell (NLC) in 30 days, emerged on Friday.

The prolonged closure had severely impacted the local economy. In the last two and a half years, Wana Bazaar, hotels and shopping centers had almost closed, while the working class faced deep unemployment and poverty.

Local products can now be exported to Afghanistan and other neighboring countries through shorter and more feasible routes.

The terminal is equipped with the necessary facilities for offices and residences of several departments, including the Customs Office, the Federal Research Agency (FIA) and the protection of plants. Digital systems have also been established to facilitate real -time coordination between these departments. The new infrastructure has weighing stalls, trucks and container courtyards, banking services, heavy duty generators to guarantee the uninterrupted power supply and fiber optic connectivity. More plans are also being carried out to install a load scanner. The NLC promotes the Angoor Adda edge terminal as a step in the right direction to strengthen the local economy and guarantee socioeconomic development in the region.

“When the border closed, our businesses collapsed completely. There were days when not a client came to the store. Now we hope that trade improves, especially with pine nuts, fruits and dried fruits that arrive easily. We can give our children a better future,” said Gul Rehman, a wana bazaar merchant, who speaks towards The express trusteeat the opening of the terminal.
