- Bluetooth amplifier with sound battery is launched in Kickstarter
- 100W of amplification of the mono D class, and two can work in a pair
- 40 hours of battery playback, 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of weight
What is more convenient than wearing one of the best Bluetooth speakers to the beach? Taking some heavy analog speakers, speaker wire and a beach battery amplifier. Er …
It is not the best launch I have launched, I admit it. But the Portable Soundup amplifier is a small intelligent thing, although one with a very specific niche. It is designed to take passive stereo speakers, feed them and add Bluetooth transmission, and all without requiring an electric socket.
This is not the first device that transmits to analog speakers, of course: the tastes of Blobolund, Ellipson and Wiim have made Bluetooth and Wi-Fi amplifiers that will happily carry the transmission audio to passive speakers.
But that I know, this is the first Bluetooth option with drums, and is also considerably more affordable than the most advanced amplifiers. Where the Edge Powernode de Blobosound is $ 749 / £ 599, the sound is simpler and in Kickstarter with an early price of birds of $ 159 (around £ 118 / au $ 240 before taxes and shipping).
Bluetooth Portable Soundup Amplifier: key features
The Soundup is a more modest device than that of Blobosund, so you do not get characteristics such as Apple AirPlay. But you get Bluetooth 5.1 and an aux input with 100W class D amplification wiring, which is quite impressive.
However, this exit is in monkey: it can match two stereo sounds, which is not yet a bad price. If you execute it with the battery, the promise is up to 40 hours of reproduction time (I suppose this drops a lot if you try to feed a multiple shots), although it can also work with cable energy on USB-C.
The sound admits speakers with impedance of 3 to 8 ohms, reaching a maximum of 100W in 3 ohms and “closer to the 90W peak with 4-8Ω”.
The sales argument here is that the sound allows you to take advantage of old speakers, the speakers that “were high -end in their day, built with real wood, quality and acoustic drivers tune that the cheap modern bluetooth boxes cannot match. Today, you can pick them up second hand by a fraction of their price.”
And that is absolutely true: there are some really lovely speakers looking for a song in places like Facebook Marketplace. Although I would not say that most of them are particularly Portable, especially those with real and tuning acoustics, so when it combines them with the sound of 1 kg (35 oz), that is enough to load.
So, as much as I like the rarity of the amplifier, I am not going to ask for one for me, although perhaps some people will love the idea that the location of their speaker is free of the tyranny of the placement of the energy output.
Even so, the Kickstarter has raised tons more money than its initial financing objective, so it is clear that there is demand for this quite unusual amplifier. You can get more information here, on the official Kickstarter page.
