Arthur Jones, a key defensive liner during Baltimore Ravens’s race for the Super Bowl title in 2013, he died, his former team announced on Friday. He was 39 years old.
“We are terribly sad to learn about the sudden death of Arthur Jones,” said the general manager of the Ravens, Eric Decosta, in a statement.
Jones was attributed a sack and a loose ball recovery in the game against the 49ers of San Francisco that secured the second Vince Lombardi trophy of the Ravens.

The game is remembered for a long delay caused by a power blackout within the New Orleans superdome. The jones sack occurred moments before the interruption. His loose ball recovery in the second quarter helped establish a touchdown from the Ravens.
“Arthur’s presence was a gift for everyone he found,” the statement continued. “His great and brilliant smile, infectious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continually raised others. He was kind, polite and enthusiastic, always showing a love for the family, teammates and friends.”

Jones was the brother of the UFC Jon Jones heavyweight champion and the former defensive wing of the New England Patriots Chandler Jones.

The Ravens selected Jones in the fifth round of the NFL 2010 Draft. It began 20 games for Baltimore for four seasons, finishing their period with 8½ catches.

Jones joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2014 and retired in 2017 after a period of one year with Washington.
He finished his NFL career with 10 captures.
