- The Operai CEO, Sam Altman, has been talking about Sora 2
- More control for copyright holders is in process
- Soon there could be a video payment system too
Earlier this week, Openai launched Sora 2, a substantial update in its previous AI videos generation tool, along with a new application and a personalized diet of Tiktok style video clips, and there are some changes on the road, according to the OpenAi CEO, Sam Altman.
First, Altman says that copyright holders will obtain a “more granular control” about how their characters can be used in the Sora application; In other words, it may not be so easy to generate clips with Marvel and Disney characters in the future.
“The Sholders … are very excited by this new type of ‘fiction of interactive fans’ and think that this new type of commitment will accumulate a lot of value, but wants the ability to specify how their characters can be used (including nothing),” Altman explains.
From Openai’s perspective, he wants as many users and as many generations of video clips as possible, and hopes to make technology convincing enough for copyright holders want to get involved, while giving them the option of choosing not to participate.
In him for money
The second change that Altman speaks in his new blog post is about monetization rewards, although it seems that this will be for companies whose work is included in Sora clips, instead of users who are creating them.
According to Altman, Sora users are generating many more videos than Openai expected, so there could be some type of payment system for generation introduced in the near future (there have been previous clues in making users pay during high demand periods).
“We are going to try to share some of these income with the rightists who want their characters to generate by users,” says Altman. “The exact model will take a test and error to solve, but we plan to start very soon.”
At this time, the Sora application is only available for iOS, and only in the United States and Canada, and must have an invitation to test it. However, you can expect you to be more widely available soon, and most likely with stricter restrictions on what you can do.
