5.0 earthquake magnitude shakes Quetta, adjacent areas

An earthquake of 5.0 magnitude hit Quetta and its surroundings on Sunday night, said the National Seismic Monitoring Center.

The earthquake epicenter was approximately 65 kilometers west of Quetta, and its depth was 25 km, he added.

Until now, it has not been informed of loss of lives or properties.

The tremors were informed after an earthquake of 3.2 magnitude hit Karachi’s Malir neighborhood four days ago.

The earthquakes have frequently shaken the region, especially Pakistan and Afghanistan, in recent years. The registration shows the seismic activity in neighboring countries that are at the intersection of Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.
