PMD warns fishermen in the middle of cyclone

The Tropical Cyclone Alert Center of the Pakistan Department of Meteorology (PMD) has advised fishermen to avoid venturing in deep waters today (Monday) in view of Cyclone Shakti,

The center issued two successive alerts on Sunday. According to the tenth alert issued on Sunday night, the severe cyclone has moved away more than Karachi, but its intensity in the Northwest Sea of ​​Arabia remains unchanged.

The Cyclone’s Center is now approximately 800 km southwest of Karachi.

In the last 12 hours, its movement has been in a west/southwest direction and is expected to continue moving towards the southwest until October 6 (today).

During the next 12 hours, it is likely to turn east towards the Mar-West and Northwest of the Arabic Sea, where it will gradually weaken for a stage and return to a cyclonic storm. According to the alert, racial winds up to 55 km per hour near the coast of Sindh can cause rough sea conditions, advising fishermen to avoid going into deep water.

Between October 5 and October 7, wind speeds can exceed 135 km per hour, potentially generating very high sea waves, the alert added. After moving east inside the Arabic sea, the system is expected to weaken by a category.

The city experienced clear skies and an intense sun on Sunday. Due to high humidity levels, residents felt remarkable heat during the afternoon.

According to the PMD, the maximum temperature recorded in Karachi was 32.8 ° C, while moisture remained at 69 percent. The early warning center predicted that on Monday and Tuesday, the climate of the city will continue to be wet with mostly sunny conditions.

Meanwhile, the rain is expected accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms and isolated hail storms in several parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltist, Islamabad and Punjab over the next 24 hours. In some places, heavy rains and hail storms are also probable. Climate is expected to remain hot and dry.
