Islamabad:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared on Monday that it has the hope that the safe evacuation of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad will be “successfully completed in the next few days.”
“The Pakistan Foreign Ministry, through its Embassy in Amman, is working tirelessly to ensure the safe evacuation of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan,” said the FO in a statement.
“With the invaluable assistance of the Jordanian government, we hope that the process can conclude successfully in the next few days,” he added.
“We are deeply grateful to Jordan’s fraternal government for their exemplary cooperation and generous support.”
Earlier on Sunday, the FO in a statement said that diplomatic sources in a friendly European country have confirmed that former Jamaat-I-Islami senator (JI) Mushtaq Ahmad Khan is safe and is in custody of Israeli occupation forces.
Ahmad was arrested by the Israeli forces while aboard the Sumud Global Flotilla, as confirmed on October 2. Ahmad led the Pakistani delegation of five members as part of the Sumud Global Fleet.
“We have also been informed that, in accordance with local procedures, Ahmad will appear before a court. After the issuance of deportation orders, their repatriation will be easily facilitated.”
According to the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already taken measures for the safe return of the people who were separated from the flotilla in the initial phase.
In a publication about X, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, head of Jamaat-I-Islaami, confirmed his conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saying that he had urged the prime minister to “accelerate efforts” for the release and recovery of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan.
