- Asahi and Jaguar Land Rover continue to recover after cyber attacks
- Both attacks stopped production and closes systems
- The two companies are now starting slowly
Both Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Asahi are apparently ready to resume production after important cyber attacks that stopped work in both organizations.
For JLR, this will come as a relief since production has been considerably affected for just over a month, with systems and closures of plants that saw workers in Merseyside and Solihul sent home, while the company took proactive measures to mitigate the damage.
Even so, the recovery will not be easy for JLR, which, according to reports, will have to face the costs of “millions per week” due to the lack of cyber insurance coverage. Apparently, the company was negotiating to collect as the attack occurred, but since then a loan of £ 1.5 billion of the United Kingdom government has been written to support the 30,000 JLR employees and another 200,000 workers affected in the supply chain.
Back from barrel
For the Asahi alcohol giant, operations and shipments were suspended in up to 30 plants after a cyber attack caused a system failure in its Japanese operations.
With a 40% participation in the Japanese beer market, the interruption has been widespread, causing shortage in bars and restaurants, although their European brands, including Fullers and Peroni, were not affected.
The attack caused an interruption of systems that affected orders processing, shipping and central calls of calls in Japan.
“Asahi’s attack shows how expensive the time of operational inactivity can be when cyber resilience is not robust enough to resist interruption,” says Andy Ward, SVP International on absolute safety.
