PM Shehbaz receives an honorary title IIUM, meets the investors of Malaysia


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has received an honorary doctor in Philosophy in Leadership and Government by the International University of the Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) in recognition of his leadership, public service and contributions to the construction of the nation and Islamic governance.

According to the news agency of the Malaysian state BernamaThe honorary title was presented during a special call ceremony on the Istac -iium campus in Kuala Lumpur, officiated by the constitutional head of IIUM, Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah, Moorosa Iskandariah. The event coincided with the official three -day visit from Shehbaz to Malaysia.

In his direction, Tunku Azizah praised the four decades of Public Service of Shehbaz marked by vision, compassion and dedication. She highlighted her initiatives in Social Education and Welfare, including the Punjab Education Province, which has allowed thousands of students to follow higher education.

“At a time when the world often rewards the image about integrity, its excellence reminds us that good government is about sincerity, service and firmness,” he said, praising Shehbaz’s leadership and Pakistan’s lasting friendship with Malaysia.

In his acceptance speech, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed a deep gratitude for honor, describing him as a privilege to be recognized by one of the main academic institutions of the Muslim world. He said that leadership, for him, is a sacred confidence rooted in honesty, justice and responsibility, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen academic and institutional cooperation with Malaysia.

He also urged the Muslim world to defend unity, compassion and moral integrity in addressing contemporary challenges, and emphasized the empowerment of young people from both countries to serve humanity through education and innovation.

Among the dignitarians present were the Minister of Communications of Malaysia, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, the president of IIUM, so sri abdul rashid hussain, prophete emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar and the high commissioner of Pakistan to Malaysia, Syed Ahsan Ahsan Shah race.

The visit of the Prime Minister was made by invitation of his counterpart from Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as a reciprocal gesture to Anwar’s official visit to Pakistan in October 2024, underlining the growing force of bilateral relations.

During his visit, Shehbaz also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepen economic, commercial and technological cooperation with Malaysia in a meeting with a high -level delegation of the Risk capital firm of Malaysia, Gobi Partners, directed by his co -founder and president, Thomas G. Tsao.

The Prime Minister said that both countries have an immense potential for collaboration in commerce, investment and technology, and are working to carry out this potential through improved bonds from company to company. Referring to the Business and Investment Conference of Pakistan -Malasia, described it as an encouraging initiative to expand economic cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated his government’s resolution to create a friendly business environment and improve the ease of doing business in Pakistan. He pointed out that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) continues to play a vital role in the support and facilitation of foreign investors.

Welcoming Gobi Partners’s confidence in the Pakistan start ecosystem, the prime minister said that specific reforms are underway to help new companies and investors in early stages through a better facilitation and investment infrastructure. Mobilize national and international capital to build a sustainable start ecosystem, he said, remains a main national priority.

Highlighting the growing digital economy of Pakistan, Shehbaz said that sectors such as Fintech, Electronic Commerce and Information Technology form the backbone of the country’s development strategy. He invited Malaysia’s investors to explore opportunities in the artificial intelligence sectors of Pakistan and artificial IT and IT.

The Gobi Partners delegation expressed interest in exploring collaboration in electronic commerce and financial technologies, praising government efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

VicePrimer Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, federal ministers Jam Kamal Khan, Rana Tanveer Hussain and Attaullah Tarar, special assistant of Prime Minister Tariq Fatmi, and senior officials also attended the meeting.
