Jaffar Express resumed its operations last week on the Quetta-Peshawar route, five days after the services were suspended after the explosion of a pump that damaged the railroad and the bridge near Spezand on September 23.

Railway officials said the suspension was imposed after terrorists flew a section of the line, wounding several passengers and interrupting train operations along the route. They confirmed that since then the repair and restoration of the damaged infrastructure had been completed, which allowed to restart the services.

The explosion occurred between the Degari Cross Speedent and Sariab train stations, derailing the locomotive and five train cars to Peshawar. The authorities believed that the explosion occurred between 30 and 45 minutes before the train reached the place.

The authorities said the device was an improvised explosive placed near the road, which he detonated when the train passed, leaving several passengers injured, including women and children.

After the explosion, the Jaffar Express and Bolan Express services since Quetta were canceled and the passengers received complete refunds. Socorro operations were immediately launched, which involved heavy machinery to remove the debris, realine the overturned cars and repair the road.

An investigation into the incident began. At the beginning of March, terrorists kidnapped the Jaffar Express that transported more than 400 passengers, which caused the death of 21 people before the cleaning operations could begin.
