ISLAMABAD:
A reduction of over Rs 15 per unit in electricity prices is possible and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has submitted a proposal in this regard to the government, sources said.
They said tariff balancing adjustments can help reduce prices, while reviewing capacity payments and surcharges and improving operational inefficiencies can also help reduce electricity prices.
The current price of electricity is Rs 45.06 per unit. Of this amount, Rs 17.01 per unit is allocated towards capacity charges, while taxes and surcharges amount to Rs 15.28 per unit.
