- Wi-Fi 7 Advanced promises 10Gbps networks with built-in detection and improved security
- Huawei and IEEE publish whitepaper outlining connectivity, IoT, and zero trust protections
- The future of Wi-Fi networks moves from pure speed to intelligent detection and protection
Huawei has published its White Paper on Advanced Wi-Fi 7 Technology in Europe, setting out a vision for the next stage of wireless networks.
The White Paper, produced in collaboration with IEEE and select industry partners, describes how Wi-Fi 7 Advanced builds on Wi-Fi 7 to deliver faster speeds, tighter integration with IoT and sensing, and stronger security features.
“Wi-Fi 7 Advanced enables APs to create campus networks that seamlessly integrate communication, sensing, and IoT,” said Dr. Edward Au, technical editor of IEEE 802.11be. “This improves the campus experience, strengthens security and drives digital productivity, making the entire campus smarter, safer and more efficient,” he added.
What does this mean for Wi-Fi 8?
Among the key features of Wi-Fi 7 Advance is intelligent coordinated scheduling and spatial reuse technology, designed to enable large-scale 80 MHz networks and double the data rate of a single user.
Together with VIP FastPass, the system guarantees low latency connections for priority users.
Huawei says this creates the foundation for 10Gbps enterprise networks capable of handling AR-assisted workflows and AI-powered collaboration.
The technology also goes beyond raw speed. By combining Wi-Fi, IoT and sensing, Wi-Fi 7 Advanced enables what Huawei calls “smart spaces.”
Applications range from energy-saving building management to human presence detection and healthcare monitoring with mmWave sensors for continuous vital signs monitoring.
As you might expect, security is also a central issue. Wi-Fi 7 Advanced features Wi-Fi Shield, which uses AI-powered encryption to prevent data leakage, while Wi-Fi channel status information detection detects intrusions in real time.
There are also tools to identify hidden cameras using full-band scanning.
“Powered by Wi-Fi 7 Advanced, Huawei Xinghe AI Campus takes communication efficiency to new limits with 10 Gbps connectivity,” said Shawn Zhao, president of Campus Network Domain, Huawei’s data communication product line.
Wi-Fi 8 is being positioned as a standard that focuses less on top speeds and more on stability, latency, and performance under heavy loads. The arrival of Wi-Fi 7 Advanced complicates this picture.
Offering 10Gbps office networking and AI-powered detection and security layers, Wi-Fi 7 Advanced introduces features that would previously have been expected from Wi-Fi 8.
