Look
We already knew that the next show would debut early next year. Indeed, AKotSKThe HBO Max release window was revealed earlier this week, with the high fantasy series confirmed to air in January 2026. However, it’s good to know exactly when it will debut on HBO Max. Hopefully, it will be released worldwide on that date, so those of us who don’t live in the US can stream it along with our American counterparts.
It is equally satisfying to see some real images of the game of Thrones‘Last prequel series.
Until now, we’d only seen the briefest shot in an HBO Max reel that was released in August 2024. A 10-second clip was also posted on Goton social media channels yesterday (October 8) but, understandably, that did little to calm fans, myself included, who wanted a proper look at AKotSK. HBO can now consider us completely appeased for the moment.

As for what the trailer shows, it confirms that the first season of the series will adapt ‘The Hedge Knight’, also known as the first installment of the ‘Dunk and Egg’ book trilogy by George RR Martin.
In that novel, which takes place 90 years before Got, We follow Ser Duncan ‘Dunk’ the Tall, who enters a tournament at Ashford Meadow to follow in the footsteps of his late master Ser Arlan. There he meets Aegon ‘Egg’ Targaryen, who convinces ‘Dunk’ to let him be his squire. Thus begins a journey that will change the couple forever.
An intimate, character-driven narrative A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms It looks like it will be more fun and less grandiose than game of Thrones and Dragon House. That’s not to say it won’t be just as dramatic or action-packed as its forebears and, with a pair of lovable underdogs at the center of its story, I suspect it won’t be long before game of Thrones Hardcore fans and newcomers alike support ‘Dunk’ and ‘Egg’ on one of the best streaming services in the world.
