Pakistan defends ‘pre-1967’ borders for Palestine: PM


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that the establishment of a strong and viable Palestinian State, based on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, remains and will remain the basis of Pakistan’s policy in the Middle East.

The Prime Minister left for Pakistan after concluding his two-day visit to Sharm El-Sheikh, where he attended the Gaza Peace Summit held in Egypt. Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouad Hanno, bid farewell to the prime minister and the Pakistani delegation.

He stated that Pakistan’s top priority has been to immediately stop the genocidal campaign being imposed in Gaza. This objective has been constantly expressed and reinforced in coordination with other sister nations.

He also expressed his gratitude to President Trump, expressing his hope that he will act to stop the violence and fulfill his commitment in this regard.

The Prime Minister further emphasized that Pakistan will continue to recognize President Trump’s unique role in the pursuit of peace. The freedom, dignity and prosperity of the Palestinian people are of fundamental importance to Pakistan.

He reiterated that, God willing, the establishment of a strong and viable Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital will remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s Middle East policy.
