Michael J. Fox is still looking to find out what happened to his iconic back to the future guitar.

As reported by Us weeklyThe 64-year-old actor revealed that his beloved red instrument is still missing.

In an excerpt from his new memoirs. Future Boy: Back to the future and my journey through the space-time continuumFox wrote: “In the decades since the film’s release, the guitar used on Johnny B. Goode has become more important for what it is not than for what it is. What it is not is available.”

For those who don’t know, Fox performed the famous Chuck Berry song. Johnny B. Goode in an unforgettable scene from 1985.

However, despite its cultural importance, he has no idea where the object ended up.

“I wish I could claim to own it, but I didn’t have the foresight to know how valuable it would become,” he shared.

He Family ties The star added: “Someone did, though, and whether it’s in their active collection or hidden in their attic or home studio, they’re not talking. Maybe they’re waiting for the statute of limitations on stealing vintage guitars to expire.”

Noting that collectible guitars are reaching “exorbitant prices,” Fox explained that the Gibson ES-345, the model used in the film, “is huge.”

He also revealed that the Gibsons themselves have joined the search for the lost instrument, even planning to document the search.

“They have even gone so far as to sponsor a documentary chronicling the search for my famous red rock and roll machine,” Fox wrote.

“They haven’t found it yet; the eventual release of the documentary is linked to the discovery and recovery. We will keep you informed.”
