It begins with a chilling 911 call in a woman’s voice speaking in fear: “He’s going to kill me. He killed everyone else.”
That is the teaser that Paramount Pictures released Primatewhose official trailer will arrive tomorrow.
The film’s synopsis gives an idea of why there is fear in the air. “Back from college, Lucy reunites with her family, including the chimpanzee Ben. Ben contracts rabies during a pool party and becomes aggressive. Lucy and her friends barricade themselves in the pool, devising ways to survive the cruel chimpanzee.”

“Ben is down-to-earth, spectacularly crafted by Millennium FX and played by motion specialist Miguel Torres Umba,” writes critic Meagan Navarro.
“The chimpanzee’s transformation from sweet pet to terrifying monster is the film’s greatest asset, enhanced by chilling shot composition and expert pacing that tests even the toughest nerves,” he notes.
“Primate may not ultimately impress with its originality, but as an old-school animal attack creature feature, it’s a rush of adrenaline and fun,” the reviewer concludes.
Johannes Roberts is the director, while he also wrote the script with Ernest Riera and Walter Hamada is the producer. Meanwhile, the film’s cast includes Johnny Sequoyah and Troy Kotsur.
Primate will be released in theaters on January 9.
