Reader, all these years I have walked to work every day, I have dedicated my 8.5 hours (plus overtime) to the powers that have always been, waiting for the Knight of my dreams to be ready to pick me up and carry me away. of all this. And now – oh noble steed! – has happened. More or less.
Audio specialist Noble (check out the Noble FoKus Apollo wireless headphones and Noble Audio IXM1 in-ear monitors for more examples of the company’s work) has just introduced a triple-driver in-ear monitor (IEM) headphone option called The Knight . And he’s targeting them at what he calls the “entry-level market”, if $289 (around £269/€309/AU$465) counts as entry-level in his book.
For the money, you get a certainly beautiful pair of IEMs with a premium 8-wire OFC silver-plated upgrade cable to boot. The Knight also comes with an aluminum casing (it really is a Knight in Shining Armor!), with what Noble calls a “3D-effect acrylic faceplate in a striking combination of deep purples and deep blues.”
The gentlemen drivers
The Knight’s drivers are no trivial parts either (or Kitt! Sorry). The 10mm dual-magnet dynamic driver in each earbud promises deep, controlled bass, while Sonion’s Balanced Armature (BA) driver handles midrange frequencies. Finally, the Piezo driver takes care of the high frequencies.
To me, the look here is no different than something Campfire Audio might unveil (check out Solaris Stellar Horizon, Moon Rover or Trifecta to see what I mean) and doing this for the above fee is no small feat.
When done right, triple-driver designs can provide noticeably clearer and more detailed audio than single-driver options, but I have to emphasize the “well-made” part of that statement. Those drivers need to be well integrated so that timing doesn’t become an issue, resulting in a slightly confusing experience where certain sounds seem to lag or “pop.” But there is no reason to suspect that could happen here. I really hope that the Noble The Knight becomes one of the best wired headphones on the market, and I hope to listen to them soon.
This Noble Knight is available to purchase starting today (January 3, 2025) at nobleaudio.com and at select retailers worldwide. Looking for ears over ears instead?
