Are you looking for a different day?
A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If instead you are looking for the Monday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips & Answers for Monday, October 20 (Game #596).
Strands is the latest NYT word game after Wordle, Spelling Bee, and Connections, and it’s a lot of fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands suggestions.

SPOILER WARNING: Today’s NYT Strands info is below, so don’t read on if you don’t want to know the answers.

NYT Strands Today (Game #597): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 597 are…
- OPENER
- SCENERY
- BIS
- HEADER
- GOODS
- SPANGRAM: LIVE CONCERT
- My rating: Hard
- My score: Perfect
I don’t think I’ve seen that many non-gaming words before, and unfortunately that includes words I should have looked more into. If you had done that, you would have seen that the header was HEADLINER, that open was OPENER, and that live was the LIVECONCERT spangram.
Instead, it was STAGE that got me on the right path to completing the game without resorting to any hints.
MERCHANDISE is a strange inclusion and was certainly the hardest word to identify, but I guess paying for a limited edition t-shirt or hat is now part of the concert experience.
In fact, at recent Oasis shows in London, many people queued to get in first, not so they could get to the front, but so they could buy the rarest products and then resell them online.
