Former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce took issue with players potentially facing fines for criticizing officiating after games, pointing to New York Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux’s comments in Sunday’s game.

Thibodeaux was upset that officials ruined a play when he stripped the ball from Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts during a push. Thibodeaux was warming up when he called the whistle “fools—,” but teammate Brian Burns reminded him that he faced a fine for his comments.

The young Giants defender quickly changed his tune.

“I don’t agree with that. Listen, you know me, I don’t like to complain about officials. I never have. That’s not how I operate. I don’t think you should be fined. I think that’s silly, personally,” Jason Kelce said on the latest episode of “New Heights.”

Travis Kelce questioned: “Can’t I give my opinion on what I thought about the call?”

Jason Kelce maintained that he is not the one who would question the officiating, but he couldn’t blame others for doing so.

“Yeah, what the fuck is this? It’s freedom of speech, baby! What the fuck… are we doing here?… I don’t think you should be fined for that. I think that’s bullshit. And I’m normally in favor of having officials’ backs,” he added. “But listen, it was a bad decision. What do you want me to tell you?”

The two also addressed the call that upset Thibodeaux.

Jason Kelce suggested that referees’ inability to make appropriate calls could end up being the reason the league bans butt shoving.
