There are now two prominent college football head coaching jobs in the SEC: The Florida Gators and LSU Tigers both fired their leaders in recent weeks.

Lane Kiffin, who has had great success in the rebuilding Ole Miss Rebels since taking over as head coach, has been linked in rumors to both the Florida and LSU jobs.

Nick Saban, however, took a page from Lee Corso’s book to essentially say, “Not so fast, my friend.”

The legendary college football coach suggested that the LSU and Florida jobs may not be as good as the one Kiffin has now.

“Jobs that weren’t big jobs before are now big jobs,” he told On3 Sports on Wednesday. “Lane is the first name from Florida and the first name from LSU, but I think you can have a long debate about whether either of those jobs are really better than the job he has now because he has some guys there at Ole Miss that give him pretty much everything he wants from a roster standpoint. He may not necessarily have the same thing at Florida or LSU.

“So now you look at these jobs differently.”

Kiffin was Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2014-16 under Saban.

Saban has been steadfast in his disdain for what has become the college football coaching carousel. He put the onus on the arrival of name, image and likeness, with money speaking the most when it comes to recent changes.

“You know, I’m not (surprised) because everyone is raising money to pay the players,” Saban told ESPN earlier this month. “So the people who give the money think they have a voice and are like a group of fans. When they get frustrated and disappointed, they pressure the (athletic directors) to take action, and that’s the way of the world.”

Brian Kelly became the latest to be fired after a loss to Texas A&M.

He joined Penn State’s Billy Napier and James Franklin as some of the biggest names to be ousted during the season. Sam Pittman (Arkansas), Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State), Deshaun Foster (UCLA), Brent Pry (Virginia Tech) and Trent Bray (Oregon State) were also dismissed from their respective schools.
