Queen Camilla feels deeply for victims of abuse and King Charles has ensured her maligned brother is punished for the same reason.
In a statement from Buckingham Palace, both King Charles and Camilla expressed their thoughts for victims of abuse before renouncing all of Prince Andrew’s titles. Royal expert Ingrid Seward says the decision was made with careful consideration.
“I think everyone who makes a statement about Andrew now has to mention that they have great sympathy for victims of abuse,” she said.
She tells The Sun: “And in this case, when I said, your majesties, I guess people need to remember that Queen Camilla is very active in the area of battered women and it’s one of her charities.”
“She actually made a film about some of the abused women who had to leave their homes and take their families with them to start living in a shelter.
“So Camilla feels very strongly about this and obviously her opinion counts for a lot to the King, but this was a very, very important royal decision made by the King as head of state and as sovereign.
“He was no longer going to put up with his brother’s antics about whether or not he was going to go.
“He had already offered Frogmore Cottage, which Andrew rejected and has had to act decisively, because this story was detracting from the business of the government, and the monarchy is very careful not to do that,” he said.
