Royal Family Takes Unusual Step Ahead of King Charles Andrew’s Statement

The royal family took a rare step by not sharing on social media the statement about King Charles’ decision to strip Andrew of his remaining royal titles.

Neither Instagram nor the royal family’s X account carried the statement that was issued on Thursday.

However, the statement appears prominently on the royal family’s official website.

According to observers, the royal family may have taken the unusual step of not sharing the statement on social media to save themselves the embarrassment of further highlighting Andrew’s controversies.

Buckingham Palace said Thursday that King Charles stripped Andrew of his princely title and forced him to leave his home in Windsor, seeking to distance the royals from him over his links to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Below is the full statement released by the palace on October 30:

“Her Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles and honors of Prince Andrew.

Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His tenancy at Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in his residence. He has now been formally notified that he will be giving up the tenancy and moving to alternative private accommodation. These censures are considered necessary, even though he continues to deny the accusations against him.

“Their Majesties wish to make it clear that their thoughts and deepest condolences have been and will continue to be with the victims and survivors of each and every form of abuse.”
