KARACHI:
At least seven people were injured in an explosion caused by a short circuit and gas leak at an LPG cylinder workshop on Abul Hassan Isphahani Street in Karachi.
According to police, the explosion caused a fire inside the store, leaving seven people with burns. Following the incident, staff from Mubeena City Police Station and volunteers from Chhipa reached the spot and shifted the injured to Karachi Civil Hospital for treatment.
Mubeena Town Station House Officer (SHO) Chaudhry Nawaz said preliminary investigations suggested that a short circuit and gas leak inside the shop caused the explosion and subsequent fire.
He added that store workers initially tried to extinguish the fire before rescue crews arrived.
The 1122 rescue teams, accompanied by a team of firefighters, arrived at the scene and controlled the situation.
The SHO clarified that no LPG cylinder had exploded during the incident.
According to Chhipa officials, the fire left seven people with burns. The injured were identified as Shahbaz (35), Naseerullah (35), Akbar (30), Zafar (22), Waqas (30), Saddam (35) and Hayatullah (30).
