Judd Apatow recently revealed how he felt about sharing Steve Martin’s personal address with a company that offers tours of celebrities’ homes.

talking to Interview magazineThe 57-year-old American film director and producer shared that his grandmother lived next door to Martin during his childhood and, as his ardent fan, couldn’t help but get his autograph.

Apatow recalled, “I’m 12 years old. My grandmother lives in Beverly Hills. So I visited her and she knew where Steve Martin lived. So every time we went somewhere she said, ‘Let’s use Bedford.'”

She added: “One day we passed by and he was outside washing his car or something and I asked him for an autograph and he said, ‘No, I don’t sign autographs at my house.’ And then I said, ‘Well, will you sign it on the street?'”

When his favorite star said no again because he didn’t want people coming to his house, Apatow decided to take matters into his own hands.

“Anyway, I’m going home and writing him this letter to humor him, but I’m a little upset,” he said. Pregnant the director joked.

He then wrote to Martin: “Dear Steve, I’m your biggest fan, but you treat your fans like trash. You wouldn’t live in that house if I didn’t buy all your records and go to all your movies. So if you don’t send me an apology, I’ll send your address to Homes of the Stars and you’ll have tour buses driving by 24 hours a day.”

However, their efforts paid off, as Only murders in the building Star sent Apatow an autographed copy of his book Cruel Shoes with an apology.

“To Judd, I’m sorry! I didn’t realize I was talking to the thrice-underlined Judd Apatow, 1980,” Steve Martin wrote in his note.
