- Grand Theft Auto 6 will now be released on November 19, 2026
- Everything is in the pursuit of offering an “unparalleled experience”
The wait for the next Grand Theft Auto is now even longer, as Rockstar Games (and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive) have announced another delay, pushing the GTA 6 release date back to November 19, 2026.
After sharing the new date, which is six months after the previous release date of May 26, 2026, in a statement, Rockstar Games writes: “We regret adding additional time to what we know has been a long wait, but these additional months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you expect and deserve.”
Any Grand Theft Auto title is a huge game, and GTA 6 seems to surpass even GTA 5. And it makes sense that Rockstar Games would want to make sure the next chapter in the universe is right, right?
GTA 6 will return us to a modern Vice City, called Leonida, and will follow the story of two protagonists, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. It’s a highly anticipated title, and Rockstar Games gets it right with the conclusion of their statement:
“We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience Leonida’s extensive status and return to the current Vice City.” The change from spring (May 26, 2026) to fall/winter (November 19, 2026) also brings the launch closer to the holiday season.
Rockstar Games also confirmed the new release date on
Hello everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI is now launching on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We’re sorry to add extra time to what we know has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you expect and… pic.twitter.com/yLX9KIiDzXNovember 6, 2025
Many were hoping for a GTA 6 update during the results call, given that we got other details and a full trailer in the previous ones, but this is certainly not the happiest news for fans eager to play the title. Rockstar Games seems more confident about this release date, and Zelnick’s comments suggest that it will ensure that when GTA 6 is released, it will be polished to the quality we expect, both in gameplay and story.
Who knows, we might even get more trailers, gameplay footage, and more story details as we head towards November 19, 2026. GTA 6 is still scheduled to release on Xbox Series consoles… or maybe it should be.
