- More details about future iPhones have been leaked
- Foldable iPhone could have an under-screen camera without Face ID
- It seems that Apple is planning an iPhone Air 2
If rumors are to be believed, Apple is planning a pretty major shakeup for its iPhones in the coming years, led by the foldable iPhone, and a new report sheds some light on that device, as well as a possible iPhone Air 2.
This comes from a report by analysts JP Morgan (via @MaxWinebach), based on supply chain information. These analyst reports are not an official confirmation of anything, but are prepared using sources within the industry that are generally reliable.
First up, the foldable iPhone: it will apparently arrive in the second half of 2026, without Face ID, but with a 24MP selfie camera under the screen. There’s also a second 24MP selfie camera listed, presumably for the outer cover display.
For the rest of the camera specs, it looks like we’re getting a 48MP + 48MP dual-lens setup, with an ultrawide sensor but no telephoto lens. This is relatively basic for an iPhone, but it’s to be expected given how thin the foldable iPhone will have to be.

As for the successor to the iPhone Air, this analyst report suggests that there will indeed be an iPhone Air 2 in 2026, as well as an iPhone Air 3 in 2027. Apple is apparently showing a lot of faith in its new super-thin phone.
There have been rumors within the industry that sales of the iPhone Air have been slow, as have sales of the iPhone 16 Plus which it replaced in the line, but it seems that Apple has not been discouraged by this and will not cancel the model.
If this report is to be believed, the phone will keep the same 48MP single-lens rear camera in the second and third generations, further proof of how the slim dimensions limit what Apple is capable of doing with the phone.
Finally, the report indicates that Apple will indeed stagger the launch of the iPhone 18 phones, as previously rumored: it appears that the iPhone 18 will be delayed until 2027 with the iPhone 18e, while the other iPhone 18 models will launch in September 2026 as usual.
