Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left on Friday for a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan.

Shehbaz is accompanied by Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar.
According to the ministry’s announcement, the leaders will review bilateral relations between their countries, identifying and discussing avenues for deeper cooperation in sectors including trade and investment, energy, defence, education and regional connectivity.
The announcement said that “Pakistan enjoys long-standing fraternal relations with Azerbaijan, and the two countries maintain cooperation in regional and international forums, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Economic Cooperation Organization and the United Nations.”

The prime minister’s visit “will reaffirm Pakistan’s strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”, the FO statement said, adding that the visit aims to “further advance the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries”.
The prime minister’s visit to Baku comes as deliberations continue on the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, which the federal government plans to introduce.
Last month, Shehbaz visited Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Muhammad Bin Salman, and also paid an official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim.
