SUABIO:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, former National Assembly Speaker and Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan General Secretary Asad Qaiser has said that if the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wants to revive its public policy legacy, it must unconditionally reject the entire 27th Constitutional Amendment package.
In a statement, Qaiser said Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto made invaluable contributions to democracy, which remain a proud chapter in Pakistan’s history. He noted that the PPP had played a pivotal role in formulating the 1973 Constitution but now seemed inclined towards a “politics of compromise”.
“If the PPP completely rejects the 27th Amendment, it will mark its true return to people-oriented politics,” Qaiser said.
Regretting the recent conduct of the judiciary, the PTI leader said the courts’ approach was “deeply disappointing”. He warned that if cases are moved forward or delayed for political reasons or under administrative pressure, the credibility of the judiciary would be seriously damaged.
Qaiser further commented that when a larger court issues a verdict and it is ignored, it raises serious questions about the justice system. “Today, justice has disappeared and the rule of law has been eroded. The judiciary must rise to the occasion to fulfill its primary duty, ensuring justice and protecting the rights of the people,” he said.
