Here’s everything we know so far about Lioness season 3 from release date speculation, confirmed cast, plot rumors and more.
Full spoilers follow Lioness seasons 1 and 2. Possible spoilers for season 3 are also discussed.
Lioness season 3: is there a release date?
we don’t have a Lioness Season 3 release date yet, but we know the show is officially back in production.
After a renewal in August 2025, the cast and crew clearly didn’t stop there, which is great news considering there will be over a year between seasons, unlike the gap between 1 and 2. For a season 3 release date, then, I’d predict late 2026.
Lioness Season 3: Trailer Released?
With Lioness Season 3 currently in production, no sign of a trailer yet. For Season 2’s October 2024 release date, the trailer was released a month early. So if season 3 comes out in late 2026, I imagine a trailer won’t appear until closer to then.

Lioness season 3: story synopsis and rumors
Full spoilers follow Lioness seasons 1 and 2. Possible spoilers for Lioness season 3.
There was a lot passing in Lioness season 2 as the team embarked on the latest covert mission. Joe, Kaitlyn and Byron (rather reluctantly) recruited a new Lioness agent, Captain Josephina “Josie” Carrillo, to take down a Mexican drug cartel, run by her own uncle.
Because? Well, they were responsible, along with a Chinese official, for the murder of the husband and young son of a US congresswoman, as well as their own kidnapping.
And all of this culminated in an explosive finale with lots of shooting when the Lioness team attempted to stop two Chinese nuclear scientists from entering a nuclear base in Iran. It’s a long story, but you can watch season 2 to develop the events in between.
Unfortunately, the end of the mission took a turn for the worse and it seemed, for a few sad moments, that the Lioness team was about to meet their creator. Until the sound of help reached the skies, led by Delta Force operator Cody Spears, also known as the program’s creator Taylor Sheridan. And somehow, they all made it out alive.
However, at the end of it all, Joe was back to normal and to his beloved husband and children, who were thankfully waiting with open arms, despite Joe’s fear that they weren’t.
Until now, each season of Lioness has pursued a different mission, and while no plot details have been revealed for season 3, I predict the show will become something entirely new. Unfortunately, there’s no information on the mission yet, but we’ll be sure to update it here if a plot synopsis arrives.
Will there be more seasons of Lioness?
There is no news of a Lioness season 4 renewal, yet. It’s not surprising to learn that Season 3 wasn’t renewed until August 2025, about 10 months after Season 2 premiered on Paramount+.
But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, this delay was supposedly “to accommodate the schedules of its star-studded cast.” So whether the stars can align for another season, we’ll have to wait and see.
The only positive hint so far from Zoe Saldaña about future seasons comes from an interview with Vanity Fair where she revealed that she’s “signed up for at least three seasons.” Sure, there’s no mention of a season 4, but we can pin our hopes on “at least.”
