ISLAMABAD:
The issue of appointment of opposition leader in the Senate took a new turn on Saturday when a PTI delegation met Senate President Yousuf Raza Gilani and demanded an immediate decision on the matter.
According to sources, the PTI delegation, led by lawyer Ali Zafar, stressed that the appointment of the opposition leader should not be delayed further as it is a legitimate parliamentary right of the opposition.
“We have already submitted the required signatures… now the opposition leader must be notified,” PTI members reportedly told the Senate president.
Lawyer Ali Zafar said the delay in appointment amounted to a breach of opposition privilege. “The right of the opposition is being undermined,” he said.
