- Google Drive data migration service now includes Dropbox
- It was updated with support for SharePoint earlier this year.

Google has announced a new way to attract Dropbox customers in the hope that cloud storage users will want to join its broader ecosystem of connected apps and services.
The new Data Migration Service is much more than downloading files and uploading them again: it copies them directly, maintaining the folder structure and associated permissions.
But since launch, there’s one major drawback: administrators won’t be able to lift and delete all of the company’s data in one go.
Google explained in a blog post that admins will need to select up to 100 Dropbox users or team folders at a time to migrate, but at least it should be easy to keep an eye on the progress.
“You can find full reports on the progress of the migration, including counts of sites and files (migrated/skipped),” Google confirmed.
The data migration service is available in the administration console under Menu > Data > Data Import and Export > Data Migration.
A separate help page confirms that OneDrive enterprise editions also support migration to Google Drive.
Google added migration to Microsoft SharePoint in July 2025 after beta testing starting in May. At that time, the new Data Migration Service was redesigned, including a simplified interface.
Microsoft’s option is also limited to 100 SharePoint Online sites at a time.
But Google is not the only company participating in this game. Microsoft has its own set of instructions for recruiting Google Drive customers and migrating them to M365. Dropbox also has its own data migration service.
Starter/Standard/Plus versions of Google Workspace Business/Enterprise can use the new tool, as well as Essentials Starter, Enterprise Essentials/Essentials Plus, and some educational/nonprofit accounts.
