Diesel price likely to rise by Rs 9 per liter

.

ISLAMABAD:

The price of diesel may rise by Rs 9.60 per liter in line with the fluctuation in global prices from November 16, 2025. However, the price of petrol is expected to drop.

Prices of other petroleum products such as kerosene and light diesel fuel (LDO) are also likely to rise along with diesel.

According to the oil industry’s projections, the ex-depot price of gasoline (PMG) could fall by Rs 1.96 per liter to Rs 263.49, which is a decrease of 0.7%. The price of high speed diesel (HSD) is expected to increase by Rs 9.60 per liter to Rs 288.04, an increase of 3.4%.

Similarly, kerosene oil price is expected to rise from Rs 8.82 to Rs 193.87, while LDO could rise from Rs 7.15 to Rs 171.13 per litre.

These prices also include premiums: gasoline costs $5.10/bbl when imported and HSD costs $3.20/bbl. The exchange rate has remained unchanged, while market data from Platts for the remaining two days will finalize the government’s decision.

The revised prices also reflect higher taxes, with consumers paying Rs 80.52 per liter as petroleum tax and carbon tax on petrol, and Rs 79.51 for HSD.

HSD is widely used in the agriculture and transportation sectors, so a review of its price will have a significant impact on consumers.

Gasoline is used in motorcycles and cars. It is also considered an alternative to CNG in vehicles, especially in Punjab where indigenous gas is not available for CNG stations. Kerosene oil is mainly used in remote areas, particularly in the northern part of the country, where LPG is not available for cooking.
