The Pakistan People’s Party moved a no-confidence motion against Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and nominated Faisal Rathore for the post.

PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf stated that the party has the necessary strength of members and is confident that it will form the government in AJK. Rathore belongs to Haveli district of Azad Kashmir and his father was associated with the PPP.

The petition for the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Anwarul Haq was submitted with the signatures of the assembly members. The secretary of the assembly will deliver copies of the signed motion to the president as well as all members as soon as possible.

Once the motion of censure is presented, the secretary of the assembly is obliged to include it in the list of matters within three to seven days. Once included on the list, the president of the assembly is constitutionally obliged, under article 18, to set a date for voting on the motion.

The assembly session may not be postponed until the vote has been taken, once the date of the vote has been set. However, if the no-confidence motion fails, another motion cannot be tabled for the next six months.
