Friday’s National Assembly session began amid loud chanting and disruptions by the opposition after reports emerged of an alleged drone attack on a wedding ceremony in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earlier in the day. Chaired by Vice President Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, the session quickly descended into chaos as opposition lawmakers shouted during question hour. The vice president refused to allow any points of order, causing further uproar. Speaking, PTI leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser said: "A drone attack took place today at a wedding ceremony." The strike occurred exactly when a major peace jirga was taking place in KP, which had just issued a 15-point declaration. Terming the incident as an insult to the province, he said it was an affront to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "We have already said that drone attacks in populated areas are unacceptable."
Jamal Kakar, also addressing the House, said that the people of Balochistan lived in "a state of extreme anguish" and regretted that all routes were blocked and the mobile signal was cut off. Later, the National Assembly was finally suspended indefinitely. Later, in a press conference, PTI leader Iqbal Afridi revealed that a drone attack had hit his constituency last night. He added that the attack took place at a time when all stakeholders and leaders were present in KP. Afridi said security operations were being carried out in the tribal districts and demanded the formation of a commission. "There are injured people in hospitals; tell us which of them are terrorists," said. "If not even one of them is a terrorist, then what was this drone attack for?"
He warned that if militant presence was not established, he would register an FIR against the federal government. "We are soldiers of Imran Khan and we are citizens of this country." said. "This country is dear to us and we are willing to give our lives for it."
A wedding celebration in Tirah Valley of Khyber district was attacked on Tuesday night after a quadcopter drone fired an explosive burst, injuring eight people, including children, police said. According to officials, the incident occurred around 1 am in Shalobar area of Tirah, where a drone allegedly approached the spot and fired a projectile directly at the gathering. The explosion left eight people injured, several of them children. The injured were shifted to Peshawar for medical treatment. Police said the drone fled in an unknown direction after the attack. Law enforcement and intelligence officials have launched an investigation into the incident. Officials said the Tirah region hosts a significant militant presence and intelligence-based operations are carried out in the area from time to time.
